Landscapes

Put me outside and spin me around and I can always find something worth painting.
Sometimes a distant vista with perfect light, sometimes a simple tree that begs to be painted. Mama Nature never fails to supply ample subjects.

En plein air

French for ("outdoors"), or plein air painting, is the act of painting outdoors. This method contrasts with studio painting or academic rules that might create a predetermined look.

Abstracts

In true terminology my paintings should be considered non-representational rather than abstract. When I begin a painting I do not have a preconceived subject matter in mind. My planning runs more towards a movement or a sound.

Animals

Probably my most favorite subject to paint. It wasn’t so until I moved to Florida though. I painted a lot of memorial portraits of beloved pets who had passed and was very moved when a client said I captured their personality but when I moved by the beach the shorebirds caught my attention.

Odds and Ends

Some days an offbeat subject grabs my attention. They are freeing and fun to paint. Maybe a flower from my garden, or a spin of an old photo, or a view through my window on a rainy day.

About Meg

I guess I consider myself a free spirit. I create. There is rarely a day that passes that I haven’t done something creative. I paint, I do photography, I love to write, I make jewelry, I love to garden, I love to cook…….. I must be busy at all times. My creative juices are always flowing and I am always trying new things. I never feel the need to master a technique, only to try it.
